Learning Objectives

After this class, students will be able to

l Have a better understanding of the features of narrative articles;

l Apply effective writing skills through analyzing elements of a story;

l Promote peer-to-peer collaboration in group writing and editing

l Develop an awareness of “human and nature live in harmony”

1. Guide students to use structure diagrams to classify and organize text information, so as to grasp the structure of the article and the writing logic ;

2. Students know how to find frequency words.

Teaching procedures:

I. Reading

Activity 1 Greeting and features of narratives.

Q1：What type of articles are often used for continuous writing?

Expository Articles       (说明文）

Argumentative Articles    (议论文)

Narrative Articles        (记叙文）

Q2：Narratives are stories with description of  

settings, characters , plots and themes.

II. Exploring

Activity 1  Word frequency analysis

Activity 2  Analyze the main idea and topic of the story

Activity 3 Finish story mountain.

III. Polishing language

Activity 1 Identifying and practicing

1. Vivid verbs as well as varied language patterns will be illustrated through comparative reading and with examples and to help students get a better idea of the significance.

2. Helping students solve difficult questions about the description of animal behavior by analyzing specific examples.

Activity 2 Applying and consolidating

1. Students are to apply what they have learned to polish one of their writing work and apply the skills to paragraph writing through group collaboration.

IV. Assignment

1. To polish your group work and put them into a coherent paragraph in order of time.

2. Exchange your draft with your study partner and polish for each other.

• 时间管理：在课程实施过程中，时间把握是一个需要改进的地方。由于内容安排较为紧凑，导致部分环节感觉有些匆忙。需要更好地规划课堂节奏，确保每个环节都能给学生足够的时间进行深入思考和讨论。

• 多媒体技能：需要加强对多媒体工具的运用，以增强课堂互动性和学习效率。通过更熟练地使用多媒体技术，可以更好地吸引学生的注意力，使课堂更加生动有趣。

• 语言表现力：在教学中，加强语言的抑扬顿挫，以增强课堂的感染力。通过变化语调、节奏，可以使教学内容更加吸引人，帮助学生更好地理解和记忆。

• 学生参与度：在课堂上，回答问题的学生范围还不够广泛。可以努力扩大学生的参与面，鼓励更多的学生参与到课堂讨论中来，这样可以提高学生的参与感和课堂的互动性。

• 教学内容与方法：教学内容需要更加系统性和创新性，同时教学方法也需要更加多样化，以激发学生的学习兴趣和参与度。
